APPRENTICESHIPS

If you have always wanted to work with animals or work outdoors and would like to train in horse care and management, then our Equestrian apprenticeship could be just the programme for you.

 

Priority funded places are available to 16 to 18 year olds, with part funded places for those aged over 19. Aspects of horse care covered include: feeding regimes, health issues, grooming and rugging, care of horses at grass, tack, yard management, health and safety and good practice. We work across the eastern region, with a variety of yards in different disciplines, including riding schools, livery yards, competition yards and studs.

 

The Equine Intermediate Apprenticeship framework includes the Level 2 Work Based Diploma in horse care, a technical certificate and functional skills in English and Maths. Typical Level 2 roles include a Stable Hand, Groom, Stud Assistant, competition Groom.

 

The Advanced Apprenticeship framework includes the Level 3 Work Based Diploma in horse care and management, a technical certificate, functional skills literacy and numeracy and emergency first aid. Typical Level 3 roles include Assistant Yard Management, Assistant Instructor, competition Groom.

The training, for 16 to 21 year olds, can be done through an Apprenticeship or an Advanced Apprenticeship.
